Digital Photography Basics Participants gain a practical understanding of camera functions – aperture, shutter speed and ISO – together with manual focus techniques and the basics of creative composition.
Film Developing and Scanning A quick and easy way to learn how to develop your own black and white 35mm film or 120 film.
Introduction to Black and White Darkroom Learn the basics of black-and-white photography – from composing images through to printing in the darkroom. Participants learn how to develop film, make contact sheets and print individual images.
Next Level Darkroom Practice This workshop is designed to give you more guided mileage in the darkroom, increase your confidence and ability to use the darkroom independently and advance your understanding of the wide variety of analogue practice.
After Dark(room) A great way to enjoy the PhotoAccess darkroom after hours with a small group of like-minded film photographers. Running every month, this program is a lovely opportunity to spend some quiet time developing and printing in a fun social environment outside of 9-5 work hours.
Studio Lighting 101 Learn how to set up and position studio lighting for portrait and still life photography. Participants learn to sync the studio lights with a DSLR, sync multiple lights, use an RC trigger and PC cable to trigger the studio lights, work with reflectors and use a light meter.
Concept to Exhibition This unique program is for any image makers who would like to work towards a body of work, further their professional practice, and have the chance to exhibit at an established ACT gallery – all the while supported by a mentor, peers, and PhotoAccess.
Concept to Exhibition Online In this workshop, you’ll initiate a personal photography project and develop it over the year with mentorship and guidance, input and discussion from your workshop peers, and the opportunity to work in a structured environment.
Concept to Publication This mentored nine month studio program is for any image maker who would like to develop and curate a portfolio of work and realise it as a unique photo-book.
Nightscapes & Startrails This workshop focuses on creating nightscapes with acclaimed tutor Joe Cali, considering how to compose after-dark landscapes and skyscapes, explore practical aspects of night shoots, such as forecasting clear skies and staying comfortable during long shoots, and experiment with capturing striking stills, star trails and panoramas.
34 South – Astro Weekend An advanced astrophotography workshop with a specific focus on the utilisation of tracking devices, taught by acclaimed tutor and astrophotographer Joe Cali.
Forest Stories Since 2020, PhotoAccess and Plumwood Mountain have partnered to deliver an annual Forest Stories workshop, learning how to integrate the use of the camera with observation and investigation of the more-than-human world.
