Eligibility: The competition is open to photographers of all levels and backgrounds worldwide.
Submission: Participants are allowed a maximum of three entries per person. All submissions must be digital, in JPEG format for initial submission, with a resolution of 300dpi and 2000 pixels on the longest edge. All submissions must be original works produced in 2023 or 2024.
Eligible Formats and Methods: The competition welcomes all forms of contemporary photography (analogue and digital). Submissions that utilise innovative methods, such as artificial intelligence-based image generation or manipulation, are encouraged, provided the submitted work is original, the entrant holds the necessary rights to the work, and the work adheres to all other competition rules and guidelines.
Size Limitation: All submitted works, in their final, displayed format, must not exceed 100 cm on the longest side.
Judging and Selection Process: A panel of esteemed professionals from the visual arts industry will assess entries based on originality, creativity, and overall impact to shortlist some entries as finalists. These finalists’ works will feature in the prize exhibition. The judges will then select the winner from among the finalists. The panel’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding their decisions.
Exhibition: The exhibition will run from June 13, 2024, through June 29, 2024, and shall exclusively feature shortlisted finalists’ works. Only entrants formally recognised and notified by the selection committee as finalists will have their works displayed during the event. Opening night will take place Thursday, June 13, 2024.
Prizes: The winner of the competition will receive a cash prize of $2000. The second-place winner will receive $1000, and a People’s Choice Award recipient will receive $500.
Copyright: All participants must be the sole author and owner of the copyright for all images submitted. By submitting an entry, the participant grants photo access the right to reproduce, exhibit, and publish their work for the purposes of promoting the competition, the exhibition, and future events without further compensation.
Notification: Finalists will be notified by email, and their names will be published on the photo access website and social media channels. Details of the exhibition will be communicated to all finalists via email.
Liability: While every effort will be made to care for and protect all entries, photo access will not be held liable for any loss or damage to the submissions.
Deadline: The deadline for submission is 11 pm, Friday, 3 May 2024 (AEST). Late entries will not be accepted.
Delivery of Works: Finalists must deliver their works to the designated location by Tuesday, 4 June 2024, unless an alternative arrangement has been made. Works not received by this date will not be included in the exhibition. The finalist is responsible for delivering their works and for any associated costs. To avoid damage or loss, works must be securely packaged and adequately protected during transit. photo access will not be liable for any damage or loss incurred during the delivery of works.
