Stillness and Rest’ is an experiment in terra forming and a minimal reimagining of the landscape; touching on ideas that the modern world is shrinking in this age of digital connectedness, globalisation and travel. The resulting geometric multi piece photographic sculptures create a whole new global landscape dipicting mountain ranges, natural formations and landscapes from Australia and beyond.
Valentina Schulte is a Sydney-based artist with a practice focusing on photography, video and sculpture. Her work focuses primarily on the urban and natural landscapes we inhabit and how an expansion of static images into three-dimensional ‘sculptural photographs’ can give a heightened understanding of spatiality, interaction and multiplicitous viewpoints.
