Get ready to celebrate a hundred years of Vinnies (Canberra Goulburn)! This project is for Vinnies members, volunteers and staff with the purpose of capturing your unique Vinnie’s story.
If these questions have sparked any ideas then we invite you to express your interest in participating in Stories of Service: a digital storytelling project.
By working collaboratively in a storytelling group we want to create a piece of social history that is truly based on the people behind Vinnies, that captures diverse and authentic voices, and celebrates a centenary of wonderful work that will inspire Vinnies into the future.
We’re looking for ten people from across the Vinnies Canberra/Gouburn community to join a supported multi-week workshop process producing your own short film that shares your Vinnies’ joys, moments, challenges, and reflections. We’re looking for diversity in the group to include members, volunteers, staff, and a broad demographic.
No prior film-making experience is required, and the workshops are also suitable for people with some video-making or digital media background. They’re fun, supportive and professional!. All you need is a willingness to learn new skills, an interest in sharing your Vinnies’ journey and a desire to contribute to the social history of this wonderful organisation as it celebrates a big birthday in 2025.
The workshops are FREE for participants.
The project will be led by Jenni Savigny of Gen S Stories, and supported by professional PhotoAccess photographers, videographers and a sound engineer. Workshops run over six four-hour sessions. There will be a pre-workshop information session at the Rheinberger Centre on Wednesday 23 November, from 4:30 – 5:30 pm, and we’ll confirm your place in the project after this session. Your films will be celebrated on the big screen at a public launch as part of the centenary celebrations. Please see our past digital storytelling projects here to get a sense for what you will create.
If you’d like to join this amazing project please complete the form below, telling us a bit about yourself and why you would like to take part.
