After a well received first edition of Life in the Landscape – I – The Causeway, enrolments are now open for the second chapter of this series of collaborative photography workshops, Life in the Landscape – II – Fyshwick.
Led by local photographer Wouter Van de Voorde these workshops focus on exploring the interweaving of the human in the natural. In each instalment, a small group of artists work together over several weeks exploring how to capture different facets of a Canberra location. In the second workshop attention will be focused on Fyshwick in all its glory. Participants will have opportunity to work both digital and analog using the PhotoAccess darkroom facilities during the course of the workshop. The collaboration will culminate in a group show at the Huw Davies gallery and a *publication.
Participants will be given the option of using either or both an analogue or digital camera and will have the freedom to then explore using the PhotoAccess Darkroom or Digital Suite, which included two flatbed scanners (to scan negatives) and two Mac desktop computers with Lightroom and Photoshop. Participants are also welcome and encouraged to use their own laptops.
Participants will work towards producing a portfolio of images and will have the opportunity to participate in a group exhibition in the PhotoAccess Huw Davies Gallery from Thursday 3 September – Saturday 12 September 2019.
This workshop is for beginners through to experienced analogue and or digital photographers, but we recommend that you are fairly confident with using your camera.

Wouter Van de Voorde grew up in Belgium and has a double master degrees in painting and printmaking from the Ghent Fine Arts Academy. In 2008 Wouter moved to Australia, where he now lives in Canberra with his wife Celia and son Felix. Of his work Wouter says “Moving from Belgium to Australia has made me into a photographer in exile. As a permanent tourist I seek refuge in my images, trying to create a sense of belonging for myself.”
