As our children learn and grow, we want to capture and preserve important moments in their lives. On this weekend workshop, gain the skills and confidence you need to take beautiful photos of your little ones. Expert family photographer Emily Blenkin will lead you through the basics of lighting and composition as well as how to work with wriggling, squirming kids! Get in in control of the images you take and treasure the memories for years to come. No experience necessary! Bring along a camera, or your smartphone.
Over two mornings the group will meet in beautiful Telopea Park right next door to PhotoAccess. Let the children run and play as you learn how to make the most of your camera, and practice putting your newfound knowledge to the test. At the conclusion of the workshop, pick your favourite images to print at PhotoAccess. Take home your keepsakes to their rightful place on the fridge door.
This workshop is suited for parents, guardians and carers with children aged 2-5 years old. Enrolment is per adult attending, children are free.
Saturday and Sunday, 27th-28th August 2022
9am – 10:30am at Telopea Park (meet at the playground)
Emily Blenkin is a Canberran photographer, youth worker and small business owner who really, really loves photography. She studied photomedia and applied anthropology at the ANU. After graduating, she worked in the remote NT and WA doing community development.
After returning to Canberra to start a family and spending most of her days with very cute children, Emily founded Wild Little Things Photography to photograph families and pets, two of her absolute favourite subjects. She also works with vulnerable young people, both in groups and individually, to use photography and art as a medium to foster resilience and build skills in emotional literacy. She has been teaching digital photography at PhotoAccess school holiday programs for several years, and runs community workshops to share the mental health and mindfulness benefits of photography and create strong connections within communities post-pandemic.
Her artistic practice plays with ethnography, documentary and narrative photography. She uses images to tell both completely true and entirely fabricated stories about motherhood, social justice, adventure and suburbia.
