Learn everything you need to know about getting your digital camera off automatic mode and take your photography to the next level!
In this hands-on workshop, you will gain a practical understanding of your camera’s functions – aperture, shutter speed and ISO – together with manual focus techniques and the basics of creative composition. You’ll apply these practical techniques and newly established skills over the course of the day and have the opportunity to ask questions and gain feedback, all under the guidance of experienced photographer and tutor, Jane Duong.
This workshop is for absolute beginners with a digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) cameras or mirror-less cameras (with interchangeable lens) wishing to gain an understanding of the basic principles of digital photography.
Digital Photography Basics, will take place at PhotoAccess on Saturday 11 December, 10am – 4:30 pm.

Jane Duong is a Canberra based photographer. Duong obtained a Bachelor of Communications, majoring in photomedia from Edith Cowan University, WA in 2003. In 2007, she graduated with a Diploma in Museums and Collections from the Australian National University.
Jane has been a PhotoAccess tutor for over 5 years and was the 2017 Dark Matter resident. Duong has exhibited in Perth and Canberra. Duong’s most recent photographic projects include ‘QUEERBERRA’ a project documenting the lives of Queer people in Canberra and ‘Red Brick Road’ images from the Yarralumla Brickworks in 2017.
Enrolments for this workshop close at 5pm on Friday, 10th December, 2021. PhotoAccess reserves the right to cancel the workshop if there are insufficient enrolments. If we have to cancel, you’ll receive a full refund.
PhotoAccess will happily refund or transfer workshop fees up to 7 days prior to the start date of the workshop. If less than 7 days notice is given PhotoAccess will transfer fees to another workshop but will charge a transfer fee of either 25% of the workshop cost or $50, whichever is less. No refunds or transfers can be given once a workshop has started. Please note that memberships purchased in conjunction with a workshop enrolment are non-refundable.
