6pm – 9pm at PhotoAccess
Alex is a Canberra based photographer and self-taught artist who uses an analog camera to explore and create. Alex grew up on a sheep and cattle property between Cowra and Boorowa, where he developed good observation skills – mainly looking for flyblown sheep and Bathurst Burrs at his father’s behest.
Alex thinks photography as a process is a form of play, he agrees with Luigi Ghirri, who said photography isn’t a problem, it is an enigma. He enjoys practicing and teaching the medium because, aside from satisfying the basic mechanics, there is no right or wrong answer, just experimentation and play.
Alex takes photos for the feeling of amazement and the enjoyment of recollection. He also loves the unexpected pleasures that can be found developing negatives and printing photos in a darkroom.
