How do you go from taking snapshots to constructing photographs that communicate your ideas and also delight viewers? Through developing your skills in composition!
Join acclaimed Canberra-based professional photographer Ben Kopilow for this intensive workshop exploring how to visualise, design and construct your images. You’ll learn what composition is, why it’s important and how to use it to communicate better with viewers.
Over the course of the day, Ben will explain compositional principles and discuss theories that underpin them, including how these reflect psychological processes governing how humans respond to and interpret visual media. You’ll have ample opportunity to experiment with applying these ideas and approaches through shooting exercises and conclude the day with a critique of the images you’ve created.
This is a great opportunity to work with a master photographer to improve your skills in pre-visualising and constructing images, as well as your aesthetic understanding and your ability to assess and evaluate your own work.
For this workshop, you’ll need basic to intermediate camera skills. Please contact us if you’d like to discuss in advance if this workshop is for you.
Creative Composition will run on Saturday, 16 November, 2019, starting at 9am and finishing at 5pm.
