Come one come all for an evening of phantasmagorical delight in the PhotoAccess Garden!
Martyn Jolly and Elisa deCourcy will be performing a magic lantern show, drawing on on a collection of over 3000 square glass slides from the late nineteenth century and early twentieth centuries, many of them hand coloured. Additionally, Jolly and deCourcy will be showing some of a collection of several hundred mechanical and hand painted slides dating from the mid nineteenth century. Musical accompaniment from Alec Hunter, Charles Martin and Rachael Thoms from the ANU School of Music and ANU School of Computer Science.
The show will use magic ‘dissolving view’ lanterns dating from the 1880s to project the original slides, and dissolve from one slide to the other, as well as perform additional optical effects.
The magic lantern show will begin at 8pm sharp, so please do arrive here at PhotoAccess at 7:45pm to take your seats.
The show will take place in the PhotoAccess gardens, so please dress appropriately for whatever weather the night may bring!
