Join us for an immersive exploration of PhotoAccess during our 2023 Open Day, where you can delve into the heart of our organisation and gain a deeper understanding of what we offer. Discover what’s happening at the ACT and region’s centre for contemporary photography, film and video and media arts, as well as participate in fun activities suitable for anyone and everyone.
Gallery, Darkroom & Members Area
Discover the treasures within our PhotoAccess library, explore our vibrant member’s area, witness the art of film development in our studio, and step into the world of creativity within our fully equipped darkroom. We take pride in nurturing both emerging and established artists, and this year, we’re thrilled to showcase the innovative work of our Dark Matter Artists-in-Residence in the Huw Davies Gallery. Be sure to catch Janhavi Salvi’s gallery floor talk, where you can engage in conversations and inquiries about their residency, offering a unique insight into their unconventional approach to image-making processes. Get inspired to develop your own photographic journey, whether a novice or a seasoned image maker.
Manuka Arts Centre Gardens
Step outside and immerse yourself in a world of creativity with a free activities available for everyone. Craft your own sun-print cyanotype tote bag, strike a pose for a unique portrait captured by our large format camera, or bring along your furry friend for a special moment in our pet photography booth. Unleash your artistic side by creating your own scratch film masterpiece, and don’t miss our market stalls with second-hand camera gear and captivating original artworks by local photographers. Alternatively, bask in the serene ambiance of the Manuka Arts Centre gardens, serenaded by live music, while savoring delicious drinks and delectable bites. This day is all about celebrating art, photography, and the joy of creative expression.
Date and Time
From 10am – 4pm, Saturday 28th October 2023. There is plenty of parking available nearby, or a short walk from the Manuka or Kingston shops. The Open Day is free, just come along and check us out!
