Supported in May 2019, Re-Focus enabled twenty young people who were struggling with significant life challenges to take a journey of self-discovery through photography. The participants, aged 13-18, worked with PhotoAccess over eight weeks to explore black and white photography, film developing and darkroom printing. Through taking on the challenge of an unfamiliar medium, they built creative skills, social connections and emotional well-being. Some may even have begun to imagine a future in the arts.
Thank you to the forty generous donors who helped bring Re-Focus to life, and to the Australian Government through Creative Partnerships Australia for providing match funding through a Plus 1 grant.
