Photoshop CS Beginner Workshop - Joe Cali

Photoshop CS beginner workshop
11 and 12 October 2008

Prerequisite skills
Participants must be able to operate a computer, but no prior digital photography experience required. This course is suitable for persons who have never used a computer to alter a digital photograph but it is not a beginner computer skills course for people who have no computer skills. You should be adept using a mouse and keyboard and familiar with Windows or Mac OS operating systems. Our systems use Mac OS. Participants may elect to bring their own Windows computers and software but Photoaccess and its staff are not responsible for rectifying operating system or hardware errors. This is not a camera course. You should already have begun using a digital camera or scanning film to produce digital images.

Description
This course has been designed using a ‘less is more’ philosophy. We teach you the minimum number of basic skills required to kick start you on your path into digital image adjustment using Photoshop CS.

Through a carefully chosen series of hands on tutorials you will learn what a digital image is and how to find your way around Photoshop CS workspace. You will learn how to:

• change the image size with minimum loss of image clarity
• adjust luminosity contrast and colour
• edit and change specific parts of the image (the magic stuff)
• make a B&W image and sepia tone it
• use a small selection of the most important tools
• crop images
• sharpen images
• store your images.

The final afternoon is an open tutorial session for you to work on your own images with the tutor’s assistance.
