This course follows on from Camera Skills One. It is designed for people who have a good understanding of the camera and basic principles of photography and are looking to expand their skills and take more creative control of their photography. It runs over five weeks on Saturday mornings 9:30 am – 12:30 pm.  
 
Cost $250/$220 (includes 12 months membership). Maximum class size is 10.

Course outline 

Class 1 

• Introduction, discussion: What makes a good photograph? What is the most important thing in photography?
• Bring your favorite photograph (your own or one you really like from books, magazines, postcards etc)
• Introduce project work, discuss participants aspirations; developing your own style 

Class 2 

• Light, the photographer’s paint palette: properties, direction, types
• Overview camera types and controls, film types and formats, exposure and metering, apertures, shutter speeds, film speed , creative controls
• Bring SLR and/or digital camera (with instruction manual, if available) 

Class 3 

• Show and tell
• Discuss class images
• Bring in some of your own images, new and old
• Advanced camera skills, panning. 

Class 4 

• Field trip (location and time to be decided)
• Bring SLR camera (with instruction manual, if available) and other equipment if you have it (tripod, other lenses, filters)
• Process and print film before the final class 

Class 5 

• Discuss results; bring in all processed and printed images from the course
• What to do with the images once you have taken them
• Getting enlargements, framing, exhibitions, publishing
• Presentation techniques
• Overview and questions
